Modeled after the Montessori concept of self-directed activities, Hearthstone meets the special needs of aging adults with memory loss by using a person-centered care approach. Learn why the Montessori Method works so well for people with dementia.
Residents are encouraged and supported in their established routines. Each day’s schedule is personalized, so residents choose when to rise, dine, prepare for the day and retire. From working jigsaw puzzles to joining in a sing-along to going safely for a walk, residents can select their day’s activities. We’ll even keep your loved one’s favorite ice cream in the freezer.
Hearthstone residents also benefit from an innovative technology called SimpleC. SimpleC is a multimedia device programmed with the resident’s favorite music, photographs and even the familiar voices of loved ones. This interactive device is attached to a flat screen monitor set up in the resident’s room. With SimpleC technology, our staff can provide support with highly personalized therapy that effectively addresses the challenges of memory loss.

Hearthstone Alzheimer’s neighborhood in Georgia features a cutting-edge design from the internationally renowned firm of Perkins Eastman Architects. Every detail, including memory-cued decorating and furnishings, helps residents maintain self-sufficiency. Even the floor textures and wall colors prompt residents toward greater independence in daily living.
A lovely two-story structure with 40 private apartments and four suites, residents come together in the homelike open country kitchens; mealtimes are of their own choosing, and menu selections appeal to a wide variety of tastes and dietary preferences. Common living areas draw residents to engage with one another. Accessible, secure outdoor courtyards add a natural experience. We also offer off-campus trips, giving our residents a chance to explore and be active in the larger community.
